Barn Turned Into A Work Studio

Nicolas Tye Architects came up with an unusual project that teaches us something about innovative architecture. Long Barn Studio is the name of the building below and it was raised on the ruins of an old barn measuring a total surface of 2,200 square feet. The place has an interesting architecture and it manages to blend in its environment. You would probably expect an office building to have a certain height and a futuristic look, but the architects over at Nicolas Tye thought of messing with this pattern. However, if the exterior is somewhat peaceful and not very flashy, all the high-tech and modern stuff is located inside, in the actual work studio.

From classic and classy wood to the more modern glass, the stairs below are all a showcase f elegance and originality. Some of them have a futuristic look, with the stairs surrounding an axis, others are just plain stylish. Most of the models are custom made. The owner can have his say concerning the shape and size of the product, as well as its design. We think this is the strongest feature of the company- their connection to the consumer. Modern Residence

This impressive display of architecture comes from Belmont Freeman Architects and is a symbol of modern design. In a community of 1920’s and 30’s homes, this project comes to break the pattern and impose contemporaneity. We are not fond of this idea, however the building team considers that the the Kowalewski residence remains “respectful of the scale and architectural traditions of the community”. Overall, we think the house has some pretty cool architecture features, such as the irregular shape or the vertical window section which brakes monotony and seems to split the building in two unequal parts. The round window is also of great aesthetic effect. Still, in our opinion, homes should lose the rigid feel and stick to a design that inspires a homey atmosphere.

Robern Uplift Bathroom Cabinets

The Robern Uplift Collection of bathroom cabinets offers contemporary styling, with minimalist flair and innovative technology. Setting a new benchmark in mirrored cabinetry design, the Uplift cabinets feature a door that opens vertically, offering the aesthetics of a seamless mirror and flexible storage and design options. The sleek mirrored door of the cabinet opens upward, allowing the seamless mirror to span up to four feet wide. An aluminum handle enables effortless two-finger lifting of the door to avoid smudging the mirror, while the door has a position-hold feature that allows it to remain in a partially open position.

The Uplift cabinet provides storage solutions for many of the diverse items kept in a bathroom. If a homeowner needs to organize makeup, tweezers, first aid supplies and medicines, the Uplift cabinet includes an option for a flexible organizer shelf with movable compartments to meet changing needs.

Gama Issa House

From architect Marcio Kogan, in collaboration with a few others talented artists, comes this amazing design, a project called Gama Issa House and located in São Paulo, Brasil. Here is an excerpt of Marcio’s journal, of how the idea for creating this home took off in the first place: ” I think of a single enormous volume wrapping everything: a white box. In São Paulo, we don’t need to be concerned about environmental coherence; it is total chaos, the most absolute chaos. In this city, the world’s ugliest, which overflows energy, vibrant like no other, loved and hated, anything that is projected will be totally integrated into the city. Ah, yes, don’t let me forget an enormous wall protecting the house, covered in natural wood (maybe from the last tree of the Amazon), and which, certainly, will be completely covered by graffiti, giving the final touch in perfect harmony with the environment.”

Even though this place was inspired by the environment’s incoherence, Gama Issa House turned out to have a very harmonious look and proportions. The beautiful white house is shaped as a parallelogram and has giant windows for a more intense effect. It has two levels and four symmetric storage spaces. A large wooden gliding wall opens and then closes for protection. We hope you will enjoy this as much as we did.-via Yatzer

Bathtub From Lucedentro

Here is a great idea for unconventional and romantic lighting in the bathroom: a tub that illuminates the whole room without any help from its owners. From Lucedentro, this bathtub features a mosaic of seemingly usual shapes that manage to create a unique atmosphere once the lights go off. Due to photoluminescent ceramic tiles, this bathtub accumulates light during the day and glows in the dark. It works just like any other fluorescent elements you certainly must of heard of, such as those shaped as stars kids use in their bedrooms for example. The tub spreads light all over its surface, including in the interior, creating a great effect when it is filled with water.

Moebius House by Tony Owen Partners

Tony Owen Partners and is located in Sidney, Austrailia designed this property, with views accross the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge this family home was built using an innovative design method called “micro design”, that is environmentally sensitive. Here is some further information from the architects concerning the construction of this project: “Due to the complex geometry of this house and the need for such fine tolerances, we had to evolve a completely new system of fabrication and assembly for this house. We started off designing a house, but in the end the construction process more closely resembles that of a car. Early on it became apparent that this house would have to be detailed and documented entirely in 3 dimensions. The steel frame house is clad in metal panels which were pre-cut in China.”

Contemporary Apartment in Sweden

A bike in the middle of the living-room, towels randomly scattered throughout the apartment, modern furniture and vivid colors really make this a comfy and interesting home. Sharp contrasts are also the elements that give life to the rooms, while the solid brick wall gives weight to the white interior. Every detail is carefully thought out: large windows allow light to flow inside, 3.5 meters of roof creates air, space and light, white walls give calmness and relaxation. The furniture in the kitchen is made of wood and stainless steel, resistant in time and also aesthetically pleasing. Meals can also be arranged in the living-room, where the environment really calls out for friends and a good bottle of wine.
